After loving the first two Aunties books， I am so shocked to admit how much I hated this one。 It was a super cozy kind of mystery， which normally I love， but the characters were just plain awful。 Told in the perspective of the 5 main characters， it felt really messy and just could not stay engaged。 It took me way too long to get through。 Will keep an eye on this author bc I know their writing is better than what showed in this book。

I have been wanting to read one of Jesse Q。 Sutanto’s books for a while and I am glad I finally picked one up。 The character Vera in this book was so funny。 The pacing of the book was really good too。 I will definitely be picking up more of this author’s books and I also recommend this book。 It was more of a cozy mystery and I really like cozy mysteries this was a really good book。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 Dropped this book at 14%。 It had promise， but at 14% there have already been at least 2 references to Vera “toddling”。 Maybe it’s my peri menopause raging， but this is a terrible recurring descriptor to attach to anyone not a toddler， and certainly not appropriate for a competent older woman。 As soon as she broke character by hiding evidence from the police， my patience ran out。

Easily my favourite book of 2023。 Such a cute， cosy mystery。 I love an old-lady-sleuth trope and Vera is just an amazing protagonist。 At multiple points in this story I found myself laughing aloud and reading bits out to anyone that would listen。 Honestly， loved it so much I wish it was also a show/movie to have in my arsenal as a comfort watch。Also， the whole book made me far too hungry。 In a good way。 So good！
